Tensions between Merlin, Gaius and Morgana

We’ve seen in the recent episodes that Morgana has been a bit out of place in the Merlin series. Both Merlin and Gaius kept on distancing themselves from her that sometimes felt quite pitiful. The recent episode and its character portrayal were slightly scattered. It seems as if the characters of Merlin did things unexpectedly like not helping each other.

Another thing that bothers me about the latest episode is Merlin and Gaius asking for Morgana’s trust. There’s actually nothing wrong with that. What’s wrong is, they don’t trust Morgana themselves, and so asking for her trust is a bit… ironic. All of the trust issue still exists even though Morgana and Merlin have the same secret which felt quite unreasonable.

Since using of magic is forbidden and just being suspected leads to the most unwanted arrest, Merlin and Gaius decides not to talk to Morgana about anything especially magic. This part is understandable but the cold treatment is still a big bother to watch. So Morgana went away and Merlin and Arthur both followed in the end anyway.

At least Morgana was able to find the druids before she was served as supper for the scorpions. Well, speaking of druids, Mordred and Morgana was able to reconnect once again which is really torturing on Arthur’s side. This is because Mordred sees Arthur as the most magic-hating creature of all time, well I think we couldn’t blame him for that one.

The worst thing probably with this episode is the fact that the show never sees Merlin and Gaius’ mistakes. They were the reason why many people died. It was because of they passed the buck to the druids. It was all because of their heads hating on Morgana.

Setting the druid issues aside, it’s really funny and cute how Arthur assumes that Merlin really likes Morgana. Ironic as it may seem, but the moments when Merlin explains how he understood what Morgana was feeling was really sweet and full of sparks. Hopefully, the next episode would have less hateful scenes and more of this.
