Merlin is the young and brilliant magician, the only son of Hunith and the legendary Dragonlord, Balinor. At first, he had to hide his magical abilities so the people in his village won’t persecute him. He left Ealdor because his mother feared the villagers will find out about his magic. He was sent by his mother to Camelot to stay with her friend Gaius so that he can help him understand his unusual gift.

When Merlin came to Camelot, he met Arthur Pendragon, the crowned prince of Camelot, and saved him from an assassination attempt was made Arthur’s manservant. I the long run, he and Arthur became true friends. While in Camelot, he met the great dragon Kilgharrah, who told him that Merlin’s birth has been prophesied by many cultures, and according to them, it was his destiny to protect Arthur Pendragon and aid him in uniting the Kingdoms of Albion and return magic to the land. Merlin created the sword Excalibur and infused it with magic to help aid Arthur in his adventures.

Colin Morgan portrays the character Merlin. Colin was born on January 1, 1986 in Armagh, Northern Ireland. He went to Belfast Institute of Further and Higher Education and received a National Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting). He graduated from Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama and was honored with an Award of Distinction at the Belfast Metropolitan College. He has appeared in several TV series such as Doctor Who, and The Catherine Tate Show.
